Description

Deliciously caramelized sweet potatoes, perfect as a side dish or a healthy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter for richer flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for a smoky flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your pan: Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Prepare sweet potatoes: Toss the cubed sweet potatoes with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  3. Cook the potatoes: Add the sweet potatoes to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until edges start to brown.
  4. Caramelize evenly: Reduce heat to medium-low and cover the pan. Cook for another 10–12 minutes, stirring gently halfway through (avoid breaking cubes).
  5. Add sweetness: Drizzle honey or maple syrup over the potatoes and stir lightly. Cook for 2–3 more minutes until caramelized.
  6. Serve hot: Remove from heat and enjoy warm.
  7. Tip: Test a cube with a fork—it should be tender inside but slightly crispy on the outside.

Notes

  • You can use coconut oil instead of olive oil for a different flavor.
  • Swap honey for maple syrup or skip it if you prefer savory.
