Description
Deliciously caramelized sweet potatoes, perfect as a side dish or a healthy snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter for richer flavor)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for a smoky flavor)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
Instructions
- Preheat your pan: Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Prepare sweet potatoes: Toss the cubed sweet potatoes with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
- Cook the potatoes: Add the sweet potatoes to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until edges start to brown.
- Caramelize evenly: Reduce heat to medium-low and cover the pan. Cook for another 10–12 minutes, stirring gently halfway through (avoid breaking cubes).
- Add sweetness: Drizzle honey or maple syrup over the potatoes and stir lightly. Cook for 2–3 more minutes until caramelized.
- Serve hot: Remove from heat and enjoy warm.
- Tip: Test a cube with a fork—it should be tender inside but slightly crispy on the outside.
Notes
- You can use coconut oil instead of olive oil for a different flavor.
- Swap honey for maple syrup or skip it if you prefer savory.
